Why I'm not excited about the HomePod

It's about damn time Apple got into the smart-speaker market. I've been waiting to see what they come up with, but I'm not buying one. Let me tell you why.

Helpful Mac Tips & Tricks

As mentioned in another recent post, I've switched to a Mac as my main workstation. Thus far, it's been a lot easier than I'd imagined. However, there has been an abundance of Googling and I've picked up a variety of tips that I believe other new mac users will find helpful. Where applicable, I'll note if a feature is specific to the latest MacOS release (currently 10.13 as of this writing).

How to Reject Somebody for a Job

Over the summer, I went on a job interview and I thought it went well. It started with a phone interview. Then, I further researched the organization. Then I had an in-person interview, followed by even more learning about the organization. After weeks of silence, I got a template email from the parent company's HR portal telling me I didn't get the job and wishing me luck in my search. I'm an adult and can handle not getting a job. Heck, they probably did me a favor. However, the notification process most companies follow feels rude.

The Problem With Side-Loading Apps (Particularly on the AppleTV)

I setup a Raspberry Pi in my living room specifically for Retro Pie. I would've loved to have the same functionality on my Apple TV, but it's too annoying of a process to maintain and I'll explain why.
